As part of senior management, I worked in large corporates. My behavior was like that of an entrepreneur, taking complete ownership of the company’s business objectives. However, corporate bureaucracy would have none of that and I broke every rule in the book, to do what was honest for the company!
I always built great teams, trusted the right people and backed them unconditionally. The result was always the same – magic! I look for mavericks who come with great energy, think differently and are willing to get out of their comfort zone. Our team is our biggest strength; we have a team of people who are deeply passionate about our business and driven by the desire to create an institution that lasts.
I don't try to do everything (I’m just not that talented!). My focus areas are just a few: Building a great team, creating a work environment where every member of the team is empowered to behave like an entrepreneur, Business Strategy and Fund Raise. I was sure that one day I will be part of a startup where I would invest a part of my soul and my values. Boonbox® is one of the great adventures of my life.

I believe deeply in Boonbox’s values – and want us to grow without ever losing the soul of a small organization or ever compromising on the values that we hold dear. There are many ways to grow, but I believe in creating many small SBUs that are completely empowered and nimble enough to respond to the needs of the customer and the market. As we grow bigger, we need to remain small.
I am obsessed with providing the Customer with the best possible service and post-sale experience. The proof of our Brand’s greatness will forever lie in the testimonials of our customers.
This may not sound so fashionable, but I always trust my intuition over data. Sometimes Data can represent the past and mislead. I trust my animal instincts at all times.
To me entrepreneurship is the pursuit of freedom. The chance to dare, dream and be whatever one wishes to be. That pursuit defines me as a person too and my philosophy to life. To me entrepreneurship is a spiritual journey – living in the moment, enjoying the journey rather than focus on the destination, surrounding myself with people who are positive and energize me.

My career begun in financial services sector, my stints with Citi, TVS Group and Fullerton helped me discover the 'Intrepreneur' in me. I have been responsible for P&L across companies, therefore the sense of 'Ownership' co-existed with the title of being an 'employee'. I was fortunate to 'explore' the 'unexplored' both in terms of markets and customers in my stints across financial services.
A decade long experience in financial services enlightened me on human behavior, preferences and the magic 'access to credit' can create in the lives of humans.
Having worked with enterprises, as a banker, I had the privilege to understand the dynamics of running businesses across industry segments, seasonality of businesses, best practices and the 'vision' for business in the first generation entrepreneurs.
I am very passionate about 'doing things differently' and 'different things', therefore, identifying business opportunities, building hypothesis and designing new businesses are my area of focus in Boonbox. Excitement in this journey comes from our ability to explore and paint the rural canvas our way, as it was never done before. This journey as entrepreneur at Boonbox, is very spiritual as it has taught me to manage business and life during challenging and good times, in similar ways. As an entrepreneur our colleagues look at us for passion, courage and our ability to be 'mindfully decisive'. The biggest learning for me have come from the most challenging times, the things, which I have held onto is my 'belief' in the business and 'trust' in our team. This journey has made me a 'strong believer and empathic human' , while the strength is drawn from my colleagues, the empathy got reinforced by customer conversations.
In the journey as 'Entrepreneur' at Boonbox, I am fortunate to have co-founders with great complimenting strengths, backed by strong passion for the business. Ram, is a visionary, who believes in 'customer centric' approach to business. Narayan is a 'Keen Learner' and has a strong 'data centric' approach to business decisions.
I believe, Boonbox® is well positioned to be the 'Leader' in rural market and become a strong brand and part of rural ecosystem.
I like to meet up with people and like bike rides. I play street cricket and outdoor badminton, watch tennis and ODIs.

Anything finance (read P&L, Annual Operating Plan, Business Planning, Revenue and Pricing Analytics) have been of immense interest to me in my initial years, working with large corporates, predominantly telecom players like Vodafone, Airtel and Tata Teleservices. Over the years I grew to have successful stints in sales & distribution as well.
This continued in Boonbox as well where over the last 4 years I have played multiple roles from Head of Sales to Finance to COO. This allowed me to explore my entrepreneurial side while leading the channel strategy across various verticals of the company with the mission of creating an Omni channel vehicle for entry into rural markets.
Along with the other co-founders Ram, an extremely passionate and quick decision maker and Karthik an astute businessman who is constantly looking for new business opportunities, our days revolve around series of meetings and discussions with the goal of making Boonbox the market leader in the rural assisted commerce space in India.
True to what Phil Jackson coaching legend of NBA team Chicago Bulls once said, ‘The strength of the team is each individual member…the strength of each member is the team’ we recognized very early in our journey about the importance of having an equally passionate and hardworking team and have constantly worked towards bringing in the right people and arming them with the right resources.
A strong believer of the concept "What you think, you will become" in my spare time I practice Yoga, play Cricket and Badminton for fitness. I love travelling across deep rural villages, meeting people and helping to improve their livelihood.
Advisor - Business Strategy
The person: Rajiv is a science fiction buff and can discover philosophy in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. He loves studying and meeting entrepreneurs and draws his energy from their passion. Tennis, travel and Tamil food keep him going.
The professional: Rajiv is an experienced business leader with a 25 year track record in building and scaling successful businesses in eCommerce, retail technology , outsourcing and consulting at Cisco, Arthur Andersen, KPMG and Future Group - India's largest retailer. He works with some of India's most interesting start-up entrepreneurs, in technology and consumer sectors. He helps them scale and realise the growth potential of their ventures. He is the founder of Next In Advisory Partners, a growth platform for such ventures and entrepreneurs. He is an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
